Project Manager (1)
Overall Function:
The Project Manager of Global Climate will play a key role in executing EDF’s strategy for addressing climate change and reducing GHG emissions by market-based solution in China, and will manage partnerships, advocate and facilitate the adoption and implementation of climate change and environmental policies, regulations, and best practices by Chinese government and major industry players.
Ideal candidates will have a proven track record implementing policy advocacy / regulatory initiatives, deep knowledge of climate change / market-based solutions / energy / environmental issues and China political system, strong communication and relationship management skills, high degree of comfort with scientific, technical, and policy content; and ability to work effectively under multiple tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in the development of EDF’s strategies in China to address climate change and reduce GHG emissions with market-based solutions; and lead EDF’s efforts to manage and implement that strategy.
• Analyze and monitor the progress of relevant rules or laws related to China’s climate commitment, environmental protection, and energy.
• Develop climate change and market-based solutions related research project in accordance with China’s climate commitment and its global strategy such as the Belt and Road Initiative, and keep the project’s effective implementation and on track with or without external partners’ support.
• Maintain relationships among external partners, including government officials, technology providers and scientists, and consultants, with the goal of ensuring that project results are scientifically and technically rigorous, solution-oriented, actionable and timely.
• Present, interpret and communicate the project findings with a variety of audience, including senior leaders, industry experts, stakeholders, and public audience to promote EDF’s climate goal externally and to help real-time operational decision making internally.
• Manage the necessary project budget
• Work in close collaboration with different teams within EDF
• Undertake and complete special projects as assigned by senior leadership
Qualifications:
We are seeking a project manager with a deep understanding of addressing climate change and market-based solutions regulatory policy with a proven background of project development and implementation. Qualifications for this position include:
• Minimum six years’ experience in the corporate, public, consulting, academic or non-profit sectors, including demonstrated in-depth understanding of GHG emissions reduction policies and environmental management, and the strong ability managing complex projects and working with external partners to achieve program goals. Master’s degree of environmental engineering, environmental science, environmental economics, and other relevant majors can be seen as 2 years working experience.
• Experience with China’s environmental / climate / energy regulatory policy is required.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, particularly the ability to translate highly technical/scientific information for non-experts. A writing sample and/or sample work product will be required as part of the interview process.
• Ability to work with colleagues and partners of varied backgrounds and experience.
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
• An ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic, and entrepreneurial environment.
• Fluency (reading, writing and speaking) in English and Mandarin Chinese is required.
Program Assistants (2)
Overall Function:
The Program Assistant of Global Climate will play a key role in assisting the team to execute EDF’s strategy for addressing climate change and reducing GHG emissions by market-based solution in China.
Ideal candidates should be a fast learner and a good team player, who have sufficient knowledge of climate change / market-based solutions / energy / environmental issues and China political system, strong communication and relationship management skills; and strong ability on dealing with multiple tasks under deadline pressures and quality controls.
Key Responsibilities:
• Analyze and monitor the progress of relevant rules or laws on addressing climate change and GHG emission reduction related to China’s climate commitment, environmental protection, and energy.
• Draft and assist in the relevant report and document development to ensure the programs’ progress and deliveries are fully and successfully reported against internal and external stakeholder’s requirements
• Assist in the development and implementation of climate change and market-based solutions related research project in accordance with China’s climate commitment and its global strategy such as the Belt and Road Initiative
• Assist in partnership management and engagement with partners, including government officials, technology providers and scientists, and consultants.
• Assist in internal and external program events preparation and organizing
• Work in close collaboration with different teams within EDF.
• Undertake and complete other tasks as assigned by senior leadership.
Qualifications:
We are seeking self-motivated, detail-oriented program assistant with the understanding of addressing climate change and market-based solutions regulatory policy. Qualifications for this position include:
• Minimum two years’ experience in the corporate, public, consulting, academic or non-profit sectors, including demonstrated understanding of GHG emissions reduction policies and environmental management. Master’s degree of environmental engineering, environmental science, environmental economics, and other relevant majors can be seen as 2 years working experience.
• Previous regulatory and policy experience working on China’s climate change and emission reduction issues is strongly preferred.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, particularly the ability to translate technical documents between English and Chinese. A writing sample and/or sample work product will be required as part of the interview process.
• Ability to work with colleagues and partners of varied backgrounds and experience.
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
• An ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic, and entrepreneurial environment.
• Ability to travel and work across different time zones.
• Fluency (reading, writing and speaking) in English and Mandarin Chinese is required.
